Laser Tattoo Removal Using the latest Q-plus C laser technology

A tattoo can be beautiful and mean a lot to the person who has one. Often, however, you out grow your tattoo or even worse, you may hate your tattoo. You may even limit your choice of clothes so that your tattoo is not visible, especially when going to job interviews when you are concerned that you may be judged. Because the tattoo has been done to make it permanent it is hard to remove it.

How laser tattoo removal works?

The Q-Plus C works on 3 primary wavelengths, with each of these wavelengths being able to target different coloured inks, as well as pigmented lesions.

This cutting edge laser technology combines Q-switched Nd:YAG (1064/532nm) & Ruby (694nm) to ensure a fast and relatively pain-free treatment, while comprehensively removing your unwanted tattoo.

The laser is directed at the tattoo and the energy is taken up by the ink. The ink particles are broken down into tiny fragments that are then taken up by the macrophage cells in the body. The macrophages then transport the ink fragments so that they are removed by the body.

Am I suitable for laser tattoo removal?

We will do a thorough assessment before doing a patch test on a small area of your tattoo. When having laser tattoo removal you must not have any fake or natural tan on the skin. If you have been exposed to the sun in the area to be treated within the last 30 days then we cannot do the treatment as the colour in the tan will take up the laser energy and can cause burning and the treatment be less effective. There are certain medications that can make the skin light sensitive but this will all be discussed in your consultation

Where can laser tattoo removal be used?

Tattoos can be removed from anywhere on the body although we do not currently treat on the eyelid.

What colours can the Q-plus C laser remove?

The 1064nm laser can remove black, blue and dermal pigmentation, while the 532nm laser removes red, orange and purple ink. The third wavelength 694nm laser targets pale colours including greens, pale blue and turquoise.

Laser tattoo removal aftercare

You must stay out of the sun. The skin is much more prone to burning after laser, especially the first 6 weeks. The skin must be kept clean and dry to reduce the chance of infection.

You can apply a cold compress to the skin to reduce inflammation. Bio Oil is excellent and should be applied at least once a day after the skin has finished healing which is usually about 7 days after treatment. This greatly reduces the risk of scarring.

You must use at least SPF 25 suncream on the skin for at least 3 months following laser tattoo removal.

How much does Laser tattoo removal cost?

The cost of laser tattoo removal starts from £50 per session. The number of treatments needed depends on many things, including the density and colour of inks used and the age of the tattoo.

How many treatments are required?

Amateur tattoos tend to be the quickest tattoos to remove taking 1 to 6 treatments, whereas professional tattoos can vary considerably, generally needing between 8-12 treatments. Treatment sessions are carried out every 6-12 weeks.

Possible side effects of laser tattoo removal

After the treatment the area may be uncomfortable. We recommend the use of an effective cream which we will tell you about in your consultation, to make the area more comfortable and to speed up the healing of the skin. Sometimes there can be blister formation after the treatment and occasionally the skin may become lighter or darker, but this usually improves over time. Change to skin texture and scarring is possible, though uncommon when the area has been looked after properly.

How long does tattoo removal take?

Treatment time depends on the size of the tattoo but generally takes 10-30 minutes.

How successful is tattoo removal?

Depending on the quality of ink used and the number of colours within the tattoo the time required and number of treatments will vary. The hardest colours for most lasers to remove are pale colours including light greens and blues. These cannot be fully removed with standard lasers.

I’ve had 2 sessions with Charlie now on laser removal and the tattoo is half gone. Not only is the tattoo half gone but I have no marks, soon the tattoo will be fully gone like it was never there. I can’t thank you enough 🙂
