PDO Thread Lift Non-surgical Facelift
As we age we lose the volume in various areas of our face; the cheeks, temples, lips and around the mouth. We also lose the elasticity of the skin and the combination leads to wrinkles and sagging skin. The nose to mouth lines (nasolabial lines), marionette lines develop and we develop jowls.
PDO threads immediately lift the skin, creating more volume and then stimulate collagen production in the area to give tighter skin and a more youthful look.
What areas can be treated with threads lifts?
– Nasolabial lines
– Marionette lines
Can fat be reduced in an area?
Insertion of differing threads at different levels in the skin will cause a reduction in the fat cells.
How do PDO threads work?
The threads are made of Polidioxanone (PDO) which has been used as a suturing material all over the world for over a decade. They are inserted under the skin and anchored by tiny hooks along the thread. When the threads are tightened there is a lifting and tightening of the skin. Over the next 6-8 months when the threads gradually degrade there is healing in the skin and contraction. Other PDO threads used for collagen stimulation are inserted quite superficially underneath the skin ,in several rows, depending on the area being treated. With these there is collagen stimulation due to the thread, the insertion and also the effects of ’24 hours a day acupuncture’ to cause skin tightening and volumisation.
Dr Debenham was involved in the development of the Galderma Harmony Facial Assessment Process and will guide you through this at your complimentary consultation. Dr Debenham will advise you on which length of threads you should have and the placing of them to get maximum effect. Dr Debenham will personally carry out your PDO treatment. You will be required to sign a consent form after being given the time to ask any questions. Photos will be taken before each treatment.
Local anaesthetic is injected superficially into the skin at the points where the thread is to be inserted. Then the thread is introduced underneath the skin. The thread is then tightened to get the desired effect. Local anaesthetic cream is also applied to the areas of skin where the finer threads are used for skin tightening or fat reduction.
There will be some bruising and swelling after the treatment which can be reduced by taking Arnica tablets starting 7 days before, stopping C & E Vitamins and omega oils 7 days before and avoiding aspirin and anti inflammatories. A rule of thumb is; School run at 3 days, Waitrose at 5 days and back to work in 7-10 days. However it is amazing how quickly you can recover and how little people notice. It really is just the bruising that causes the downtime.
