Thermage tightens & contours the skin on the face and body

The Problem

As we age we lose volume in the face especially the cheek area and there is a reduction in the elasticity of the skin. An analogy is that of a jumper that has stretched and is being worn by someone who has lost a considerable amount of weight. The results are sagging skin and wrinkles giving an aged appearance.

The Treatment

Thermage is a non-invasive procedure that’s clinically proven to help tighten and contour the skin for an overall younger looking appearance. It is used on the face and all areas of the body. It is a favored treatment of Gwyneth Paltrow and mongst many of the clelebrities who require results without downtime.

A Thermage treatment is carried using a hand piece with a smooth, flat tip that delivers Themage’s unique radio frequency (RF) technology, safely heating up the deep, collagen rich layers of your skin.

The heat helps tighten existing Collagen and stimulates the formation of new collagen. This reduces sagging, renews contours, and improves the smoothness and texture of the skin’s surface.

Where can Thermage be used?

Thermage is used as a preventative measure as well as to treat specific areas.

Thermage treatment areas

• Face – jowls, naso labial lines, marionette lines, smokers lines and for general skin tightening.

• Eyes – under eye wrinkles and skin laxity as well as heavy, hooded eyelids.

• Lips – smokers lines and area of ‘lip stick bleeding’.

• Tummy – skin laxity post baby or due to excess sun exposure.

• Arms – skin laxity especially the inner upper arm area.

• Hands – skin laxity on the upper side of the hands.

• Thighs and knee areas – skin laxity due to age and sun exposure.

• Buttocks – Skin laxity due to ageing and loss of volume.

The Procedure

After the consent form has been discussed and signed, and photographs taken your face will be cleansed in preparation. A sticky pad is applied to your back to complete the radio frequency circuit. A gel is applied to the skin and then the temperature is set according to your comfort. Some areas will be more sensitive and require the energy level to be turned down, others will be able to tolerate much higher energy levels. The Thermage tip has a cooling plate and a vibrational part that means more energy can be delivered through the tip without it being uncomfortable. The skin is treated in a systematic way to raise the temperature and stimulate the collagen production. A treatment of the the face takes about 1-2hours.

An eye treatment requires tiny plastic shields to be placed over the eyes using local anaesthetic drops. A treatment on the eyes, whether it is focusing on the upper lids or the skin under the eyes, takes 1-11/2 hours. The eyes may feel a bit sensitive for a few days after the treatment due to the use of the protective shields.

The Results

A Thermage procedure is a single treatment with immediately visible results for most clients. Measurable tightening and contouring gradually appear in the two to six months in the course of your body’s natural collagen rebuilding process. Results can last years depending on your skin condition and aging process. Most clients, however, have yearly treatments with lesser collagen stimulating treatments every 6 weeks, such as laser, Peels, Indiba, OmniFace and Dermaroller or Dermapen. We advise the use of Retinol and antioxidant containing products from the ZO range .They will be discussed at your consultation as they significantly enhance the results.

This is my ‘magic’ treatment which somehow means I end up with every day
being  a good skin day.  I swear I used to have several chins, I now only have one!

I have just had my thermage facial treatment and the whole procedure was discussed and my expectations talked through. I felt safe and reassured at all times and was able to easily communicate if any areas were a little uncomfortable (only around 20 shots of the 1200 made me flinch but nothing unbearable whatsoever).

I left the clinic within two hours.. no swelling, no redness, no pain, no stinging, no heat tenderness… just the feeling of  slight tightness on my neck and lower jaw and a general awareness of perhaps some cellular reactions taking place deeper within the skins layers.

I am a devotee of all Radiance’s offerings.  I’m a particular fan of Thermage for the face and the eyes plus a tincy bit of Botox on my frown lines and filler in the lips.

I also use the ZO products and have just  started taking Skinade. I know I look a zillion times better than I did a few years ago and people are always saying ‘how come you always look  so healthy and glowing’.   The change is subtle – like all of Ros’s work – and I don’t look ‘done’, just annoyingly good for my age! In fact, I’m usually mistaken by strangers for being 15 years younger than I am.

Show me a woman who is looking the best she has done for years – quite possibly the best in her life – and Radiance Medispa is probably behind it. Dr Ros Debenham and her team achieve the most remarkable results. I am almost embarrassed with the number of compliments I get on how well I look – compliments I certainly wouldn’t have got a few years ago! So much so I’m almost tempted to start lying about my age!! I think the key to the phenomenal success of Radiance is twofold. Firstly, Dr Ros invests heavily in best training, best equipment and best products for her practice resulting in a highly motivated and knowledgeable team who you trust with all aspects of your ‘beauty’. Secondly, Ros’s craft as an aesthetic practitioner is outstanding. She is as much an artist as she is a doctor, studying every twist and turn of your face in the finest detail and, with candour, advising what’s necessary – and sometimes telling you that you’re just fine as you are!
