Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Reduce the signs of ageing

Women £345 / Men £395

The Problem

Your skin is like a piece of paper, the more you crease it, the more permanent the creases become. Strong frown muscles cause the typical number 11’s between the brows, strong squint muscles cause crow’s feet and strong forehead muscles cause the horizontal wrinkles on the forehead.

When you are young the skin just springs back and there are no visible wrinkles, but as you age and the skin loses elasticity the wrinkles are present even at rest. These wrinkles contribute to making your face look older than it is.

What is Botox?

Botox is the common term for the product used, and the treatment using Botulinum toxin. Botox was first introduced by ophthalmic surgeons who injected it near the eye to stop facial tics and they noticed that it reduced the wrinkles in the skin, giving a more youthful appearance. It is now used in many areas of the face and also for many medical conditions such as migraines.  It also helps to reduce excess sweating called Hyperhydrosis.

Your Practitioner

Botox treatments are scientifically based but also an art. Dr Ros & Nurse Helen’s skill is in their assessment of your face, depth of knowledge of the anatomy of the face and placement of the Botox (which must be done to your ‘blueprint’). A medical qualification is required by law to administer Botox.

Where can Botox be used?

Botox can be injected in areas on the face and body highlighted in the image below.

Botox for the face: Forehead / Eye area / Mouth / Lips / Nasal Area / Neck

Botox for the body: Hands / Feet / Armpit

How does Botox work?

Botox helps to temporarily relax the muscles and excessive movements to smooth out the skin. The Botox attaches to the nerve endings thus stopping the message to ‘contract’ to the muscles. It is injected into the required area using tiny needles.

The Botox Treatment

After an initial assessment by Dr Ros or Nurse Helen, if Botox is right for you, you will be offered a treatment on the day or at a later date. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and the pain is minimal with a small ‘bee-sting’ like swelling subsiding within minutes. Within 36-48 hours the Botox starts to work, with full results becoming apparent after about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks you will have a follow up appointment where the effects are assessed and further Botox is administered if appropriate. These follow ups are essential so that Dr Ros & Nurse Helen are confident that you get the best results, yet with a natural look.

Results of Botox

At Radiance we never give a ‘frozen look’, just a natural relaxed appearance.

Am I suitable for Botox?

Dr Ros & Nurse Helen carry out a full facial or body assessment for anyone considering Botox or other treatments. You will be required to fill out a medical form to rule out any conditions that might contraindicate a treatment. The vast majority of healthy people, who are not pregnant or breastfeeding are suitable.

Botulinum toxin aftercare tips

For at least 4 hours after treatment

  • Keep in an upright position
  • Do not bend excessively

For at least 12 hours after treatment

  • Avoid extreme facial expressions
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption
  • Avoid wearing make-up

For at least 2 days after treatment

  • Do not rub or massage the treated area, this may cause the injected solution to spread to nearby muscles
  • After washing, pat skin dry very gently with a soft towel

For at least 2 weeks after treatment

  • Avoid exposure to strong sunlight, very cold temperatures and saunas
  • Do not have any beauty treatments on your face e.g. facials, facial massage

Please inform Dr Ros or Nurse Helen if you have changed your medication, have seen your doctor for anything other than a minor illness or are pregnant or trying to conceive when you return for subsequent treatments.

Remember: The effects of Toxin are temporary and will need repeating approximately every 4 months.

Rebecca

Dr Ros absolutely lived up to my expectations. Not only does she expertly understand every element of facial treatments with botox and filler, but she can explain it in the detail so many practitioners do not do. She is a cautious and compassionate Dr who is an expert on the contours of the face and what is and isn’t required for the patient, I am thrilled with the obagi retinol , its just the best product out there & any clinic stocking it knows its stuff. Fantastic botox results, quicker then any i’ve had before as started to show within a week.

What’s not to love!

I have visited Radiance on numerous occasions for my Botox treatment which has been carried out by both Dr Ros & Nurse Helen. I have only had Botox in two areas as they both said having the crows feet done was not necessary on myself. This provided me with confidence that they are happy to provide an amount suitable for my face with my best interest and not doing the full amount solely for a sales purpose. I am always told what to expect before, during and after treatment. I would highly recommend and will continue to book my future appointments with them.

Today I came to see Dr Ros for my first ever botox treatment, after having a full consultation last week. Dr Ros was excellent and I am so delighted that I decided on Radiance MediSpa.
The treatment did not hurt at all and everything was explained to me.
The reception staff are great, Kate put me at ease as I was a little nervous.
Thank you Dr Ros, Kate and the amazing staff at Radiance MediSpa.
